Music evolves and keeps pushing forward its not a static thing. He creates feelings that you never thought could be felt at the same time, beautiful grime is about the best way you can describe it. Mac DeMarco has slowly built himself into a household name, not by luck, but by blue-collar hard work, and would you expect anything less from a Canadian? DeMarco has also become known for his fun natured live show where the singer-songwriter chugs beers, smokes cigarettes and walks around shirtless in full dad bod glory. This goofy but sweet-natured tune that has spawned the unlikeliest of indie heroes, but the one we need. A community of Aussies making amazing psyche rock for the masses and loving every second they get to live out their dreams. Instead, we find a beautifully laid out composition that features subject matter that somewhat juxtaposes its instrumental accompaniment. The singing is weird, the lyrics even weirder, and the musical compositions not exactly arranged in standard A B A format. A sound centered on a looped rhythm set up perfectly not for a guitar solo, but an angelic harp solo, something spoon would have never considered in their early days. Accompany that with lyrics about not getting dragged down into the bullshit and one can see the maturity that has come from all those years out on the road.

Foals - The French Open (from Antidotes, 2008)

49. King Krule – Out Getting Ribs
The music industry, upon seeing the meteoric rise of The Strokes, Bloc Party and The Libertines, fanned out across these United Kingdoms in search of white boys with weak jawlines, playing in bands with names like a problematic flavour of Walkers Sensations hello to Bombay Bicycle Club and Cajun Dance Party. The mass-produced nature of Landfill meant there was a surplus of artists but a dearth of originality, which in turn bred contempt. Why did they bother? Couldn't they tell they were shit? In many ways, though, the flack levelled at some of these bands was unwarranted. The scene booted open the door for people from outside London to become full-time musicians by singing about what they knew, which is what most British people know: that their their post-industrial hometown or middle-class suburbia was and is shit, that youth is precious and fleeting, and that the most reliable modes of escape are romance and drinking. Creatively, Landfill Indie remains one of the least exciting things to happen to music this century.

Lovely stuff. Foals will always be one of our favourite bands and often go to them for inspiration. The French Open is like the second song I heard from this band after Cassius and I was sold, instantly.
If you can't do that, realizing that your partner may never come around to your side of things, you are not ready to marry this person. Might be worth working through the missionary lessons and CES letter to see if they can agree at least to disagree. Take your date to a club with loud music and an open bar, or an R-rated or violent movie, and the prospects of it going well are daunting. I think love and caring can be more important. Every new set will see your man with fresh and hungry eyes as a potential golden contact. Great post and so very true. Mormons are very particular about dressing. But the idea of marrying my husband felt right from almost the get-go and, my patriarchal blessing made so much more sense. Accept yourself, and feel God accepting you, and everything else will follow.
